Reconnecting with Dormant Contacts through Email Campaign
About Luv-a-Duck
Luv-a-Duck is Australia’s leading producer of premium duck products, supplying restaurants, retailers, and home cooks with high-quality, locally farmed duck for over 50 years. The brand is known for its innovation, rich flavours, and commitment to celebrating culinary traditions.
Challenge
The brand was transitioning from an older CRM and email marketing platform to ActiveCampaign. Having not reached out to their database for over a year, Luv-a-Duck needed to reintroduce themselves, warm up their contacts, and ensure deliverability in the new system—all without overwhelming dormant subscribers or risking unsubscribes.
Solution
To reconnect the brand with its audience and make the most of a seasonal touchpoint, I tied the re-engagement campaign to a Mid-Autumn Festival eDM—a culturally relevant celebration aligned with Luv-a-Duck’s products and brand story. My work included:
-
Designing an on-brand, repeatable email template that could serve as the foundation for future campaigns.
-
Structuring the email content to be welcoming, relevant, and aligned with the Mid-Autumn Festival theme to tap into seasonal interest.
-
Implementing best practices for warming up a dormant database—gradual sending, careful segmenting, and compelling subject lines.
-
Integrating the design into ActiveCampaign so it could be easily replicated and scaled by the in-house team.
Results
The campaign successfully re-engaged Luv-a-Duck’s audience and laid the groundwork for ongoing CRM success:
-
Created a repeatable, on-brand email design for future use.
-
Tapped into dormant contacts, effectively warming up the database in the new CRM.
-
Achieved a 23% open rate for the first outreach after a long period of inactivity.
-
Re-established deliverability and subscriber trust, providing a solid base for future seasonal and promotional campaigns.
